This week is all about assessment in pedagogical contexts. Therefore we were presented different resources with fundamental concepts concerning digital assessment. This we had to analyse and to identify three key ideas for:
a) digital assessment/e-assessment
b) formative assessment
c) summative assessment
d) sustainable assessment
Digital assessment:
– All assessment mediated by technology
– Can include all forms of assessment
– Quality of e-assessment has four aspects: authenticity, consistency, transparency, practicability
Formative assessment
– Happens frequently during the learning process and helps to understand the development of students
– Gives teachers the chance to adapt the teaching process according to what the students need
– Gives students to evaluate and reflect on their learning process
Summative assessment
– Happens at the end of the learning process and measures the (expected) outcome, therefore, no information about the process
– Classical tool used in education: oral and written exams
– Often standardized tests are used and can be statistically evaluated
Sustainable assessment
– Shall help students with their future learning needs
– Helps students to develop strategies to identify their level of knowledge and gaps
– Use of peer feedback, portfolio
The second task for this week was to
- Present in a ppt / prezzi / infographic a digital assessment strategy (DAS) adjusted to your context as a teacher/educator. To do this, consider the following items:
- Context (level and / or subject )
- What do you want to evaluate? (Objectives / competences)
- How to evaluate? (Activity / instrument)
- Who evaluates? (teacher / peers / student)
- With what standards? (rating criteria)
- How to assess the activity (ies) carried out?
I decided to do an infografic:
