Welcome to my Blog „Digital Competence for Educators“
That’s me!
I started this block as a part of the course „Digitally Competent Educators“. It includes the weekly tasks and some reflections of the course material. Whenever I find something interesting I also post it here. So basically this block will be more like an e-portfolio.
My name is Katharina and I was born in 1979, so I am not a digital native, but I try my best to keep up … especially in my professional background. I work in occupational rehabilitation. That means I teach English and Communication/German to adults, who train for a new profession. The cannot perform their original learned profession anymore because of different reasons (physical health problems, mental health problems, social limitations, overcome addictions etc.). Most of them have a German background, but more and more participants come from different countries and German is their second or third language.
As you can see, my participants are really diverse. Therefore, my work is challenging and I never get bored.
I prefer working in preparation classes, which happen before professional education, as well as in classes with future real estate agents and tourism and leisure agents.
